Nations reaffirm commitment to green hydrogen trade, resilient Indo-Pacific energy systems, and diversified clean supply chains
Dialogue highlights energy efficiency, net-zero transition, and enabling technologies under 2024 Renewable Energy Partnership
India and Australia have reaffirmed their strategic partnership in clean energy during the 5th India–Australia Energy Dialogue, held October 22 in New Delhi, with green hydrogen, net-zero transition, energy efficiency, and supply chain resilience at the top of the agenda. The meeting was co-chaired by India’s Minister for Power and Housing & Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal, and Australia’s Minister for Climate Change and Energy, Chris Bowen MP.
Both sides emphasized that the India–Australia clean energy alliance is essential to supporting sustainable and secure energy systems across the Indo-Pacific, with green hydrogen playing a central role. “We reaffirm our commitment to serve as reliable energy partners and ensure the development of resilient and diversified supply chains,” the two governments stated. The ministers also received progress updates from the dialogue’s various Joint Working Groups and outlined forward-looking cooperation strategies.
This bilateral dialogue builds on the India–Australia Renewable Energy Partnership, signed in 2024, which aims to strengthen investment flows, boost employment in renewable sectors, and foster self-reliant clean energy ecosystems. The Partnership includes joint efforts in hydrogen production, storage, and trade infrastructure, positioning both nations to become key players in the global green hydrogen economy.
