The winners of the second European Hydrogen Bank auction, announced earlier this year, have very different strategies to deliver molecules to their offtakers, which appears to depend mainly on their project’s location, reveals analysis by VNZ Insights.

Projects in Germany or the Netherlands, such as the 560MW Zeevonk Electrolyser or the 368MW Kaskade facility, plan to feed H2 directly into their respective national pipeline networks — the cheapest method of hydrogen delivery.

The first stretches of the German and Dutch national hydrogen pipeline networks are already under construction.
